WE-Care holds capacity-strengthening trainings to improve program implementation

April 3, 2024

During the WE-Care Learning Event in 2023, the team highlighted capacity gaps requiring capacity strengthening to improve effective implementation of the program. Among the areas that were highlighted were monitoring, evaluation, and learning (MEL); communications; program management; financial management; and advocacy and influencing. To further validate these identified areas and delve deeper into the key components requiring capacity strengthening, a capacity needs assessment was carried out in November 2023. The results of this needs assessment highlighted a common need for capacity strengthening in Program Management, Communication and Digital Rights, and Advocacy and Influencing.

In March 2024, online trainings were organized in the above three areas focusing on aspects ranging from the basic principles to how each of the above areas fits into the WE-Care program. The trainings took a practical approach highlighting contextual differences and allowing the participants to be part of developing solutions to the challenges that their fellow team members were faced with. The trainings were not only a learning avenue but also formed a base for networking and partnerships. A highlight of the trainings was the group activities that led to the development of draft communication plans and advocacy plans that the teams will further build on to further aid in the implementation of the current phase of WE-Care.
